Do not hide persons with disabilities during census, NUDIPU urges enumerators
The National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU) has asked parents and guardians of children with disabilities to make them available for counting during the forthcoming National Population and Housing Census exercise. The Director of Programs at the Union, John Chris Ninsima, says this will help policy makers determine equitable resource allocation for the persons with disabilities in the country. He says currently the government is grappling with disaggregated data on persons with disabilities, which has made it difficult to make appropriate budget allocation for this vulnerable group of people.
