Tooro Kingdom Launches Shs925 Million Drive for New King's Enthronement

Tooro Kingdom Launches Shs925 Million Drive for New King's Enthronement Preparations are intensifying in Tooro Kingdom ahead of the enthronement of Prince Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma Nyabongo I, with organisers launching a Shs925 million fundraising campaign to finance the September 29 ceremony. The enthronement will take place at Karuziika Palace in Fort Portal, following the death of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV in August. The organizing committee says the budget will cover areas including welfare, works and decoration, palace affairs, publicity, entertainment, health, transport, security, and traditional rituals. A fundraising account has been opened at Centenary Bank, while a mobile money option is also being arranged. The ceremonies are expected to begin on the night of September 28, with traditional rituals and a procession from Rwengoma Palace to Karuziika. The main program on September 29 will include a church service before the formal enthronement. Organizers say invitations have been extended to political leaders, traditional leaders, business leaders, diplomats, and other guests, with President Yoweri Museveni expected to attend as chief guest.
