Court issues second production warrant for Besigye
Buganda Road Magistrates Court on Thursday issued a second production warrant for Dr. Kizza Besigye, ordering prison authorities to bring him to court on January 21, 2025, for further hearing on charges of incitement to violence. This follows the failure to serve the first production warrant to prison authorities, according to prosecutor Allan Mucunguzi. Dr. Besigye, currently on remand at Luzira Prison, is jointly charged with activist Samuel Lubega Mukaaku for allegedly inciting violence during the June 2022 Kampala protests against high commodity prices. The prosecution alleges that Dr. Besigye and Mukaaku used a loudspeaker to urge people to overthrow the government, an act interpreted as inciting violence. The court had initially ordered Dr. Besigye’s production on January 9, 2025, […] The post Court issues second production warrant for Besigye first appeared on 93.3 KFM.

Mao defends Court Martial’s ruling in Besigye lawyer case
The Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Mr Norbert Mao has supported the Court Martial’s decision to detain Eron Kiiza, Dr. Kizza Besigye’s lawyer. In a Wednesday interview with KFM, Mao explained that while contempt of court isn’t always clearly defined, it falls under the discretion of the presiding officer. “The law of contempt is about ensuring order. I think in the light of what happened in the General Court Martial regarding Kiiza Eron, the Constitutional Court and probably the Supreme Court will have to make a pronouncement so that sentences are not seen to be excessive,” Mr Mao said. Mao stated that the purpose of contempt law is to maintain order within court premises and during proceedings. US determines Sudan’s RSF committed genocide, imposes sanctions on leader
By Reuters The United States determined on Tuesday that members of Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied militias committed genocide in Sudan and imposed sanctions on the group’s leader over a conflict that has killed tens of thousands of people and driven millions from their homes. The moves deal a blow to the RSF’s attempts to burnish its image and assert legitimacy – including by installing a civilian government- as the paramilitary group seeks to expand its territory beyond the roughly half of the country it currently controls. The RSF rejected the measures. “America previously punished the great African freedom fighter Nelson Mandela, which was wrong. Today, it is rewarding those who started the war by punishing (RSF leader) […] The post US determines Sudan’s RSF committed genocide, imposes sanctions on leader first appeared on 93.3 KFM.

Peptides: Multifunctional Molecules with Promising Roles in Cellular Dynamics
The Structural and Functional Diversity of Peptides Studies suggest that peptides may exhibit remarkable diversity in structure and function, which arises from variations in amino acid composition, sequence, and length. The linear sequence of amino acids determines a peptide’s three-dimensional conformation, influencing its biochemical interactions and possible roles. Linear peptides, for instance, are believed to interact with enzymes or receptors, while cyclic peptides—where the chain forms a loop—may exhibit better-supported stability against enzymatic degradation. Research indicates that certain peptides may function as signaling molecules, possibly facilitating communication between cells or tissues. This signaling potential might be observed in processes such as immune responses, cellular proliferation, or neural activity. Additionally, the peptide’s inherent modularity makes it a subject of interest for […] The post Peptides: Multifunctional Molecules with Promising Roles in Cellular Dynamics first appeared on 93.3 KFM.
