Akena to contest for presidency despite Court ruling

EC brings forward nomination dates for presidential aspirants

According to the Commission Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama, the nominations will now take place between the 23 and September 24, 2025. Four Butambala district officials charged, remanded for alleged theft of fuel
By Ruth Anderah Four Butambala District officials have been arraigned before Butambala Chief Magistrates Court and charged with theft of fuel and conspiracy to defraud. They are Jesica Naigembe, Acting District Engineer, Joseph Wandera, the Chief Financial Officer, Fred Muwanga, the District Internal Auditor and Charles Mukalazi, a driver. The accused allegedly misappropriated over 80,000 liters of fuel worth over 430 million shillings meant for road works, between the months of June and April 2024 in the F/Y 2023-2024. The scheme involved inflating fuel requirements, irregularly drawing fuel, and falsifying accountabilities. The officials have been remanded until July 28, 2025.
