Gulu Archdiocese Sounds Alarm on Priest Shortage, Urges Parents to Support Religious Vocations
Today, the Archdiocese of Gulu celebrated Vocations Sunday, a day to think about God's call to serve. The Mass was led by Msgr. Martin Agwee. He asked parents to guide and support their children to join religious life. He also said there are only 116 priests serving many Catholics in Acholi, so more priests are needed. He thanked those who have already accepted God's call and encouraged more young people to become priests, sisters, and brothers and to serve God in family life. Rev. Fr. Kizito Ayella, who is the Director of Pontifical Mission Societies and Children Ministry, reminded Christians that vocations begin in the family. He said the family is like a nursery where children grow in faith and learn to serve God. Many students from Catholic schools joined the celebration, including Sacred Heart Lacor Minor Seminary, Alokolum Major Seminary, Negri College Layibi, Negri Primary School, and others.
